God’s Fingerprint

I made an interesting discovery as I was reading my Bible today…

I learned about the heptadic structure in the scriptures this year, which is basically a fancy way of saying that you can find 7’s all throughout the scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation. They serve as a fingerprint of God. He’s showing us that this collection of 60 books, written by over 40 different people, spanning thousands of years, was COMPLETELY guided by a Being outside of space and time.

But before I knew all that, it would be fair to say that I thought genealogies were the WORST!

However, when I see one NOW I get excited, because I know something amazing is about to happen.

That brings me to Exodus Chapter 6… and right in the middle of Moses’ story, we break off into this genealogy.

Boring?

NO WAY!

I broke out my calculator and I started adding up the years of the lives of the the elders listed. Then I added all the names of the sons and the fathers (including Israel)… that brought me to 448.

What next?

You just divide the SUM by 7 and see if you get a whole number with no remainder. And guess what? 448 ÷ by 7 = 64 which is a whole number.

Tucked away in this genealogy is a gemstone!

Chuck Missler, a life long student of the Word, often quotes a passage in Proverbs 25:2, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the glory of kings to search it out.”

These are seen all the way through the scripture!

In Leviticus, as it was written in the original Hebrew, every 7th letter spells out YHWH, which translates into Yahweh, the unpronounceable name of God.

In Mark Chapter 16, verses 9-20, the amount of 7’s found in the structure of the original Greek is so astronomical that it would take over a million super computers millions of years to recreate!

So why would God hide these mathematical anomalies all throughout the Word?

I think the answer is simple… He wants us to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He is the “I AM!” He always IS, He always WAS, and He always WILL BE!

These little treasures are a wonderful affirmation of the fact that Jesus LIVES! It warms my heart every time I find one, but what really feeds my soul even more is what the Bible says.

I don’t think God intended for the hidden elements of the scripture to ever be more important than the bold truths that are openly proclaimed to the average reader. The stuff behind the scenes is meant to make you play closer attention to the stuff right out in the open!

Once you get it in your heart that the Book you are reading was uniquely designed by a Creator outside the the borders of time, in order to point us to a Savior, and that no other book in the world could make the same boast, then your reverence for the Living Word of God and time spent studying the Word becomes even more meaningful.

James 1:5 tells us, “If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

So, my prayer for all of us is that God would give us His eternal wisdom so that we’r mau know the depths of His love for us, and understand just how far He was willing to go to give us a Savior! Amen!
